Four Types of Weight Loss Exercises

Different activities serve different functions when attempting to burn fat and calories. The key is to figure out what will work for you based on four main types of fitness routines.

You can benefit from the following four different types of weight loss exercises:

Cardio/aerobics-These activities help get your blood pumping which improves cardiovascular circulation. This benefits every area of your life emotionally, physically, and mentally. Dancing, jogging, team sports or swimming are examples of cardiovascular or aerobic workouts.

Flexibility/Stretching-Usually these are performed as warm-ups or just as standalone routines. The purpose of these is to prevent injury during more vigorous cardio or strength training sessions. An additional purpose is to help you become more amble. For instance, after a few weeks of stretching you should be able to touch your hands a little bit closer to the floor.

Balance Improvement-Using simple techniques such as placing a book on the top of your head and walking around the room can improve your equilibrium. Using an exercise ball for certain routines can also aid in balance improvement. At the same time, you are likely to burn fat and calories.

Strength Training-Some routines in this category also may improve your ability to stretch your muscles.  However, the main purpose is to tone your body. This helps build muscle as well as get rid of the appearance of cellulite, which shows up on your skin. It helps you retain a youthful-looking appearance.

Additional Tips

If you have not exercised in awhile you might want to start out slowly and work your way into more vigorous or strenuous routines. This will help prevent unnecessary injury and will gradually help you improve your overall physical shape and appearance.

Furthermore, learn what your “normal” heart rate should be while exercising. This information is usually based on age, weight, body build, height, and a few other factors. You may also want to learn more about Body Mass Index (BMI), which helps you measure how much fat to muscle you are made of.

As you improve yourself physically, your mental and emotionally well-being is also likely to improve. You will then experience a better quality of life and become more socially and vocationally confident. Click here to learn more on how to lose weight
