The exercise ball workout is now a very popular way to exercise and strengthen
key core muscles such as the abdominals(abs) and the lower back. It can also help with weight loss when used in conjunction with a balanced diet. Also, with an exercise ball workout you get the
added benefit of targeting numerous other muscles
from just one exercise.
The exercise ball workout is a great way to strengthen the lower back. In fact this was
the primary reason it was used by physical therapists, since the ball provides support for
the lower back when it is used. It also provides great comfort when used as it is a
comfortable soft surface and can actually have a massage like feel when being used.
Core strengthening is another great reason to do an exercise ball workout. The core or
trunk of your body consists of the lower back, deep abdominal muscles and the back
muscles.
The actions taken during an exercise ball workout such as the bending and
stretching, all require the use of these core muscles and so this is a great way to keep
them strong. Even just sitting on the ball will require you to use these core muscles as
the ball is fairly unstable so you do need to have some power in the trunk region of your
body to be able to maintain your balance.
The exercise ball gives you a way to workout hard to reach muscles which helps to
solve the problem of muscle imbalance where some of the muscles in your body are
weaker than the others disproportionately so this can lead to physical problems.
Clearly the exercise ball workout has multiple benefits and is something anyone should
consider if they are looking to get stronger and healthier.
