The Benefits of Chakra Meditation

Chakra meditation involves focusing on the different energies that lie within our bodies and by paying attention to these different regions of our bodies, we have the potential to initiate great healing.  There are 7 chakras that one needs to know about when looking to learn chakra meditation. They are as follows:

  1. 1. The root chakra – This is located at the bottom of our spinal cord and focusing on this region is believed to help relieve or prevent cancer, bladder problems and male reproductive problems.
  2. 2. The feeling chakra – In chakra meditation, this area is found at the center of our stomach and is focused on to prevent allergies, diarrhea, leukemia, and lower back problems to name a few.
  3. The personality chakra – This is located above the navel and in chakra meditation it is concentrated upon to relieve arthritis, liver and obesity challenges.
  4. The heart chakra – This of course is at the center of our chest where our heart is and it is concerned with the feelings of love and in chakra meditation it is focused upon to help with heart problems, lung cancer and respiratory problems.
  5. The throat chakra – This is found at the center of the throat and in chakra meditation helps with neck and shoulder problems, lymphatic problems and cancer. This area is the center for communication and expression.
  6. The knowledge chakra – This is at the middle of our forehead and in chakra meditation used for eye problems or problems with vision, brain tumors and sinus problems.
  7. The crown chakra – This is found at the top of our head and focused upon in chakra meditation to help with baldness, cancer and migraines among other things.

Yup, I know that can seem like a lot to remember but as you gain more and more experience with chakra meditation, you will be able to recall the chakra’s with ease.

How to do Chakra Mediation:

The steps involved to performing chakra meditation are fairly simple and the main thing to remember is that your focus needs to be on one chakra at a time and you need to clear your thoughts. In fact, one of the reasons we focus on a chakra during chakra meditation is because it gives our minds something to focus on and acts as a way of eliminating distractions. You can play some relaxing music in the background, preferably without any lyrics as you perform your chakra meditations. Spend about 3-5 minutes per chakra and do not take more than 30 minutes overall.

So you simply sit still with your spine straight and you focus on a chakra at a time taking a deep slow breath beginning with the root chakra and slowly working your way down to the crown chakra.  Make sure that you are physically in a comfortable position, if you need to lie down to perform your chakra meditation then by all means, go ahead. As you focus on each of the chakra’s see beams of light shooting out of you and entering the earth, the idea is to feel a sense of connection with everything around you.

Remember that one of the primary goals of chakra meditation is to relieve stress and induce healing.  There are many books and audio tapes that go into detail about how to perform chakra meditation so I recommend you check into that to get all the details about chakra meditation.  You may even consider contacting someone that specializes in this and perhaps do a group session just to get the hang of it.

The idea behind chakra meditation is to clear energy blockages in your system and regaining balance which is critical to the healing process both physical and mental. Another goal of chakra meditation is to develop your awareness for the principle of unity consciousness which is an understanding and knowledge that we are all one. The effects of chakra meditation are holistic, so they have numerous positive effects on your health but also affect other areas of your life too.

There are also great aroma’s you can add in to create an aromatherapy chakra meditation session. The aromatherapy can help to calm you and relieve stress even further and when combined with chakra meditation can be very powerful.

I recommend you use the organic pesticide free aromatherapy oils during your chakra meditations as they may have the greatest benefit.  There are numerous benefits to chakra meditation and even though it can take a bit of time to learn the different chakras and so on, the benefits at the end will definitely be worth it.
